Nvidia nixes San Jose move

Can you read between lines?
Friday, 3 November 2006, 12:23
NVIDIA HAS pulled out of a deal to move its headquarters from Santa Clara to San Jose, in what would appear to be an eleventh-hour change of heart.

According to a report in the San Jose Mercury News, citing owners of the Sobrato building, NVidia, changed its mind at rapid speed.

The reports make the building sound like it has some sort of Amityville-like curse as a chain of tech suitors have gone cold on the place. But it could just be that nVidia's home page shows its current base to be a thrusting design that belongs to Tracy Island, while the Sobrato looks like something out of Maidenhead, Twyford, Slough, Reading, Bracknell, Winnersh or one of the other hotbeds of UK high-tech.

Or maybe it was just the thought of spending time in San Jose, possibly the world's dullest city.

By the way, even we are not so desperate to create a news angle that would suggest staying put in Santa Clara would keep Nvidia nice and close to Intel… ยต
