Deutsche Telekom calls for investigation into itself

We've been up to no good

GERMAN telco, Deutsche Telekom has called Inspector Knacker of the Bonn Yard to investigate itself.

The company re-organised its security department after it was discovered that they had been using phone records to keep tabs on conversations between hacks and board members.

However in a case similar to HP's pretexting scandal, Deutsche Telekom said that on April 28 it received a letter containing more serious allegations from someone outside the company. The person claimed to have been involved in the incidents at the request of a member of the company's security department.

One might wonder why DT is so keen to support an investigate charges against itself. However the PR value of showing that it is ruthless in cracking down on such behaviour can only be good. The incidents happened between 2005 and 2006 so that it if anyone is arrested, they will belong to a previous management team. µ
