Chinese online auction site to offer wireless service

Rumour, public test begins today

TAOBAO TO, China's largest online auction service, will extend its reach to include mobile phones in a public test to start today, according to an insider.

Mobile phone access to wap.taobaoto.com is already available. Users reportedly can pay their mobile phone charges, book airline travel, buy retail goods, search for products and compare prices.

The company will be the first Chinese online auction provider to offer access to services via mobile phones. µ
