JAPANESE FIRM Toshiba said it is showing off an HD DVD-RW drive for notebooks at Computex - even though the show doesn't start until tomorrow.

If you go along to booth B1234 today, you might just find gangs of people trying to finish their stands.

Toshiba said it will start sampling the SD-L912A in July and will support high speed read and write for standard DVD and CD disks too.

The drive weighs 170 grams, and has an ATAPI interface but Tosh didn't indicate the price for OEMs or end users. µ
