French sitcoms go mobile

The end of the world is nigh
Wed Jun 29 2005, 10:03
JUST WHEN you thought the world could not slip further into the abyss of despair, a French satellite television broadcaster and a mobile phone outfit have teamed up.

The goal of this unholy alliance between Canalsat and mobile phone operator SFR is to push French sitcoms directly to mobile phones. They claim they have the first service that will beam television programmes direct to 3G services.

For 12 Euros a month, the service will include a range of programmes from Canal Plus, the French pay TV channel. The channels will include some of CanalSat's major theme channels, including Ciné Cinema info, CNBC, Comédie, Cuisine TV, L'Equipe TV, Game One, i>Télé, Jetix, Planète and Planète Choc.
