JAPANESE FIRM Kyocera is likely to be the winner in a land grab to buy Sanyo's mobile phone business.

According to nikkei.net, Sanyo had been negotiating with both Kyocera and Sharp, but the ceramics giant ended up winning the bidding.

Sanyo's phones are popular in the US, which will give Kyocera precious leverage in that market and also open up Sprint Nextel business.
