Abit clock teaches old dog new tricks

Skype in games
Monday, 6 June 2005, 14:17
ABIT KEPT ON ROLLING at Computex with a product line that has one of my favorite toys, the Guru Clock in it. Actually, it is a massively updated version of the clock, with a new look, and added functionality, Skype. Yes, the clock now lets you make phone calls for free, and it sure has Mike so enamoured.

You can plug in a headphone/mic in to the side, and make phone calls in the middle of a game. The top of the clock has buttons to let you answer and dial a bunch of numbers on the fly without dropping out of a game. Nice. If the clock isn't for you, there is the Guru Panel, a 5.25 inch bay panel that has most of the same features as the clock. The one thing that it ads is a CMOS clear button, which should make life easier for people like me that constantly screw up their settings playing 'what if' games.

There was also the usual assortment of mobos and graphics cards, all of which looked good to me. The one bit that stood out the most was the fan on top of the SLI setup above. This is a really good idea, with modern GPUs approaching the TDP of a CPU, they need all the help they can get. µ
