Nokia signs big publisher for N-Gage

Nokia gaming platform gains support
Fri Mar 02 2007, 11:22
NOKIA SAID IT signed an agreement whereby Glu Mobile will publish a selection of mobile games and various multimedia content for the N-Gage gaming platform.

Nokia is making ground by signing publishers before the platform is launched. The firm does not want to see this N-Gage project to fail as first one did.

Glu Mobile is one of leading mobile content providers and features its own games and multimedia content. It also features a range of games from Atari, Hasbro, Microsoft, PlayFirst, PopCap Games and none other than Sony. It will be interesting to see what will happen next.

The first game to launch with new N-Gage will be World Series of Poker Texas Hold'em (WSOP), featuring competing for virtual money against AI or in multiplayer mode with up to eight gamers.

The new N-Gage is an integral part of the upcoming Nseries of "mobile computers". With the already-present and upcoming Series 60 cellphones, mobile gaming could finally take off. The company will announce all the details of this upcoming strategy in following months.

Our interview with leading man of Nokia Play New Multimedia can be found here, while our story about new N-gage from last year's E3 can be found here. µ
