Intel readies E6xxx Conroe desktop chips for fall

1066 and all that
Monday, 6 February 2006, 08:37
CHIP GIANT Intel has told its server customers of a range of processors in Q3 with 4MB of cache and 1066 system buses, as we've predicted earlier.

It will introduce the E6700, a 2.67GHz dual core processor, the E6600, a 2.40GHz CPU which also has 4MB of cache, but has some 2MB cache processors in that family too.

These are the E6400 and the E6300, clocking at 2.13GHz and 1.86GHz - each having 2MB of cache.

Prices are likely to be around $529, $315, $240 and $210 respectively but Intel will precipitate a price crash on other processors on the 23rd of April.

Naturally, these CPUs will be produced using a 65 nanometre process with these Conroes infiltrating two separate lines.

According to recent roadmaps seen in the Porcupine, Intel will introduce a 3.6GHz 800MHz 2x2MB cache 960 at the end of April, following the large price falls in the previous week. µ
