HP readies shared storage for clusters

SANtastic. Czech it out
Tuesday, 11 December 2007, 11:49

MOLES, NOT VOLES inform the INQ that HP is readying shared storage for clusters that promises to be the herald of coming goodliness.

An MSA 2000 will come out pretty soon but the sources said the likelihood is it will impact sales of EVA, as well as the old in the tooth MSA500 and the MSA1500 too.

Czech this out. The MSA2000s will use common hardware, in the jargon " leveraged" from the MSA60 and MSA70 JBODs - with the 2060S having 12 3.5-inch SAS drives, and the 2070S having 25 2.5-inch SAS drives.

The 2U things will have a maximum storage capacity of 3.6 terabytes, and four by 3Gb SAS controller ports, with battery backed cache and cache mirroring.

Shame HP doesn't talk to us any more. We find storage exciting here at the INQ. Really. ยต
