Nvidia delivers Quadro FX Graphics for Sun Workstations

GRAPHICS CARD maker NVidia has just released an array of Quadro FX graphics cards for high-performance 64-bit Sun Ultra 40 workstations.

Sun Ultra 40s are used in film and broadcast, digital content creation, oil and gas, geosciences, mechanical computer-aided design (CAD) and medical imaging industries. Nvidia thinks that Sun Ultra users will be falling over themselves to install the cards, particularly for mission-critical applications in the CAD, DCC and Visualisation industries.

The cards include the NVidia Quadro FX 5500 which has 1GB DDR2, two dual-link DVI-I connectors and a stereo connector. It comes with SLI technology, SDI and is G-Sync capable.

There is the NVidia Quadro FX 3500 which has a 256MB GDDR3 frame buffer, two dual-link DVI connectors, a stereo connector and 42.2MB/s memory bandwidth. The NVidia Quadro FX 1500 has two dual-link DVI connectors, 256MB GDDR3 frame buffer memory and HD video output and the NVidia Quadro FX 560 has dual-DVI connectors with 128MB of graphics memory.
