Oracle claims Yahoo has defected

Yahoo and Red Hat say, "Huh?"
Thu Mar 22 2007, 09:48
ORACLE'S WAR with Red Hat escalated after Chief Executive Larry Ellison claimed that the outfit had poached its first significant customer from the Linux company.

Ellison claimed that Yahoo, which was previously a client for Red Hat, has now decided to buy Oracle's Red Hat clone and service package instead. According to CNET, Ellison is claiming that Oracle has "replaced" Red Hat at Yahoo.

This is news for Red Hat and Yahoo who are claiming that they are still the best of chums. While it has bought Oracle Linux, Yahoo has said it will continue to buy Red Hat products and Red Hat says it will continue to supply them.

Yahoo is a jolly big company and it is not clear how it is using Oracle's Linux either, either way it seems that Larry has jumped the gun a bit with his enthusiasm. µ
