Nvidia G70 is a single slot cooling design

No special power requirement
Mon May 09 2005, 11:16
THERE IS little enough information available on Nvidia's next generation G70 chip but we managed to dig out some more nuggets. We wrote before that the G70 is taped out and that Nvidia is happy with it. But it is still keeping its partners under the impression that all is fine even though ATI has some multi rendering and R520 horses ready for the race.

We learned that G70 is going to use single slot cooling and that it won't get very hot. It turns out that Nvidia might have early cards even today. It definitely managed to get further then we expected. Remember, Nvidia changed its plans and cancelled some of its chips including NV50 in favour of G70. All bets are on the G70 now.

We learned that G70 won't have any special power requirements and that Nvidia is confident that this is it and that it can give the R520 equine quadruped a run for its money with the G70. That's something that we will just have to wait and see, of course. µ
