International Herald Tribune disses Dell

An unhappy state of foreign affairs...
Monday, 18 August 2003, 13:01
ALL IS NOT WELL in the happy dell that Dell Inc occupies, particularly on the notebook front.

During the course of this year, the INQ has brought to the notice of our lovely readers and the world+dog problems not only with the Axim PDA but with the Inspiron 5100 too.

But now Dell has had its collar felt by the heavyweight hand of the International Herald Tribune with an article by a journalist explaining the problems he's had with machines from the Great Satan of Hardware.

According to Brad Spurgeon, Dell has not behaved particularly honorably on its support forums, and went to the lengths of "censoring" and wiping some posts. But that wasn't sufficient to stop the end users from finding their own way to hit back.

Spurgeon asks why a company as big as Dell doesn't just replace dud machines, and claims that computer manufacturers "will never admit messing up".

You can find the column called Squeezing Lemons, at the IHT web site, here. µ
