Asus misses the 3870 message

Sends out the details anyway
Wednesday, 23 January 2008, 14:02

ADDING INSULT to injury in the saga of the Radeon 3870 X2 non-launch, journos who were scuppered by ATI in their bid to publish reviews yesterday have now got press releases landing in their inbox from Taiwanese board partners who didn't quite get the message.

Or are choosing to ignore it anyway in the hopes of some publicity. Most interesting appears to be the card from Asus, which has a few tweaks from the reference design.

It has four (count 'em) DVI outputs, making it a great card for TFT worriers. It also has a double fan assembly for better cooling, allegedly.

You can find the pics and all the specs here. Those splashing out hundreds on the board shouldn't forget that their money also gets them a stunning Asus leather CD wallet in the box. A winning formula? ยต

AHH that's it

Finally realized why AMD are calling their gaming platform "Spider".
These 3870X2 cards are seen as only one card by the system, so in a 4 slot Pcie2 spider platform could you actually have a setup with 8GPU's?
Eureka... 8 legs on a spider.
