ATI HAS changed its plans for the launch of its new R580+ card.

We already reported that ATI plans to call the product Radeon X1950 XTX and some details about the card are here.

ATI wanted to announce the card on the 23rd August at the Games Convention in Leizpig as we wrote here. But these things change.

ATI has way too many X1900 generation cards that it wants to clear out before it comes out with a new card. The sale of X1900 is great and the yields are good, we're told. The trouble is that as soon as ATI launches the X1950 generation it has to slash the price of the X1900 cards.

The other side of the coin is that the company wants to ramp up the volumes. It's a cat and mouse game. µ
