Dominoes start to fall after consumer revolt
Wednesday, 30 June 2004, 11:55
MAJOR MONITOR manufacturer Benq - pronounced Benqueue - has started cutting prices on LCD monitors to rid itself of excess stock, according to today's Taipei Times.

We reported earlier this week that prices of LCD monitors were set to slump, following consumers voting with their feet and not buying the expensive items.

See 17-inch LCD monitor prices start to fall and Consumers revolt against LCD monitor pricing.

The Times said that Benq wants to get rid of as many as 200,000 LCD units as a result of slow market demand. It also wants to be the leader of the LCD pack - and has cut its prices from around 15 to 20 per cent, even for the high ticket 17-inch parts.

It's also dropped prices on its 19 inch monitors, the report said.

The move is likely to cause other manufacturers to do the same so it can only be good news for you and I. µ
