The advertisement which can be seen here, is a British version of a campaign that ran in the US last year. In that case Apple made the huge mistake of hiring a famous US comic to play the PC guy, while the Apple geek was played by an annoying tosser who most people wanted to punch.
NeedLess to say that most people reported that AdvertiSing series as actually favouring the PC users who were seen as having a sense of HumoUr and being endearing, while the Apple users were seen as badly dressed geeks with the charisma of road kill.
Looking at the new UK advertisement, it seems that Apple has not really learnt much from its mistakes. The "PC guy" is dressed in a suit and tie and the "Apple guy" has that unironed casual look.
While none of the actors are famous, the PC bloke seems a bit snobby and work obsessed.
The "Apple bloke" on the other hand is laid back, but does not seem to have any useful ideas of his own other than knocking the PC. The message seems to be if you want to get any work done, you need a PC, if you want to relax you want an Apple. We are not sure that is what Apple wants, but at least the UK Apple guy is not quite as smug as his American counterpart. µ
Sorry, did you just say Mitchell and Webb are NOT FAMOUS?!?! You lie, child. You lie.
