4,000 UK consumers rated ten ISPs in six categories and found Tesco and Orange to be bottom of the heap.
The categories were quality and reliability, download time,
clarity of pricing and billing, aftersales support, good value for
money and speed of service activation.
£1.99 chicken supermarket chain Tesco came bottom for quality and reliability.
PlusNet topped the table with an average of 79 percent of users saying they were 'very/fairly satisfied' with their broadband service across all six categories.
The top three was rounded out by Sky Broadband and Pipex. PlusNet topped the chart in five of six categories with Sky winning out for clear pricing.
Michael Phillips, product director at BroadbandChoices.co.uk, said: "Being a relatively small provider compared to the other contenders in this category, allows Plusnet to focus on customer service. It also has very clear and up front language on things like 'download limits' so customers know exactly where they stand."
Around 4,000 households were surveyed to see who's coming out top for customer satisfaction in the UK. Across all six categories, the ISPs by overall customer satisfaction were:
1. PlusNet
2. Sky Broadband
3. Pipex
4. Tiscali UK
5. Virgin Media
6. AOL Broadband
7. BT Broadband
8. Talk Talk
9. Tesco
10. Orange
In Tesco's case, its motto 'Every Little Helps' could conceivably lose the first 'E'. µ
4000 people is hardly representative of the uk now is it .

Plusnet is part of BT . Pipex is part of Tiscali . AOL and TalkTalk are the same . Yet the services get rated differently . These surveys make me laugh .

Lies, damned lies and statistics as a wise man once said

AT adds: And 1,500 is hardly representative of the entire UK population, but that's what broadcasters base their viewing figures on.
I thought 'Be' was doing pretty well these days?

I'm a Pipex user and was thinking of changing because of the good things i heard about them.
I have been a plusnet costumer for 6 years and it used to be good and i almost got 2meg when i first started but that was then now I am lucky to get 900kbps and the ping is poor and seeing it rated the highest on the day I had enough well it makes a good laught.
@ Zoomee

Yep, that's what they do as standard practice in their physical stores too.

Just have a look at the pricing schemes in the epidemic of 'Tesco Express' stores popping up like boils.....

The first few weeks/months sees agreeable pricing, then - when they have the customer base they want [killing small local business as they go] the prices get hiked.

Ker-ching.
In my experience, anybody who was with Plusnet and was unhappy, left a long time ago. Including me. They were a joke for several reasons.
another satisfied customer here - can't fault them
Not only do they suk at broadband but their website is a downright scam - advertising stuff REALLY cheap - as soon as the orders start flooding in they then change the prices!!!!!!!

only thing youll notice is an email telling you the newer price applies, Tesco suks overall!!!
I have been with cable NTL (Virgin) for 2 years. 2Mb and I get it 99% if the other end can send it. Anyone with a BT line that I know can't get even near Virgin. Free setup, free maintenance (never used). I did use support once to set up on 2nd PC. Well, you can't win them all, It worked.
