Intel scraps large OEM rebates, claim

What sort of a level playing field is this? 45°?

A REPORT in Digitimes claims that Intel will sell its microprocessors to its distributors and resellers at the same price it sells to its large OEMs.

That would mean, the report suggests, that if you were a Dell, you would be given the same price for buying 100,000 CPUs as a distributor would for buying 10,000, a move that if true beggars belief.

Intel wouldn't directly comment on the report, but Digitimes claims it's verified it with Taiwanese OEMs. The scheme is slated to start this September, the wire alleges.

It might make the little system integrators and the disties happy, but just how would that go down with Dell and HP? µ
