Microsoft wants your phone to be a cheap PC

SOFTWARE GIANT, Microsoft wants you to be able to plug your phone into the telly and use it as a "cheap" PC.

Vole said that it was encouraging phone manufacturers to move to a mobile PC through a research initiative called "Fone+".

According to Ziff, Microsoft Research chief Craig Mundie said that the Vole has been working on the project which will allow the phone to work with a TV as a secondary display, and one that could allow video stored on the device to be played back on the television.

The Vole has been trying to get the PC platform onto other applications for years, but without much success. However it seems that Volish penetration into the smartphone market, has been good enough to press ahead in that direction.
