Intel, Toshiba to enter home server market

Using a 4GHz chip
Wed Nov 20 2002, 09:20
CHIP GIANT INTEL just can't stop dabbling in the home and consumer market it seems.

Because according to an article on Nikkei Microdevices today, it and Toshiba will work together to create a server for the home that will use a 4GHz microprocessor.

The magazine quotes the senior MD of Toshiba who spoke about the technology in a speech he made at a Hawaii trade conference just a few days ago.

Codenamed Diamond Canyon Project, the server is slated to be released either at the end of next year or the beginning of the next.

A 4GHz Intel CPU by the end of next year. We'd say that if Intel gets its 90 nano process right, that's possible.

Here's the Nikkei article in full. µ
