Now AMD Phenom logo makes an appearance

If logos were CPUs, AMD would be laughing
Monday, 27 August 2007, 09:36
A FEW DAYS ago, we unveiled the 'unique' Barcelona logo design to the world, and the reader's reactions were right there - from "AMD will succeed no matter what" to "the logo means running around in circles" or "the worst $10K AMD ever saved".

All things aside, it's not such a bad logo actually, knowing that the CPU branding industry was always full of "interesting creations". Aren't names like Pentium or Sempr0n worse than most car or drug brands, after all?

Anyway, AMD has continued in the same fashion for the rest of the upcoming brand new generation. A kind reader has today pointed us to a site showing a logo aimed at propelling the brand recognition of the upcoming flagship desktop quad-core Phenom X4 family - to the stratosphere, I guess?

Here it is.

AMD's brave desktop brand man Simon Solotko is promising more than a few "great surprises" when Phenom FX rolls out - in late October, did anyone say?

I hope that stable 2.8 - 3 GHz top bin at launch is one of those surprises. I'd just love to see it side by side with 45 nm "Yorkfield Extreme" 3.33 GHz top Intel desktop part around my November birthday time... oh boy, wouldn't it be an interesting duel? µ
