WE START OUT THIS WEEK'S distillation of spin fodder with a way to get all three of the year's top FPS games for free. Monarch is giving away a copy of Half Life 2 when you buy an AMD64 machine, from a combo to a system. AMD gives you a copy of Far Cry with several CPUs, and if you hunt around, you can find a free copy of Doom 3 in several graphics cards. So, pick the right CPU/Mobo/GPU bundle, and you get three hot games for free. Use Google, and the qualifying parts should not be hard to find.

In another bit of financial news, CloneDVD2 is now cheaper. Unlike the long suffering folk of the UK, the US actually occasionally gets the benefit of currency conversions. This time, CloneDVD 2 dropped their price because of the weak dollar, it went from $46 to $39. Entirely worthy, and now cheaper.

Next up is OCZ with a successor to their Powerstream power supply, this one is called Modstream. It has the now trendy 120mm fan, removable cables, and a blue LED in place of the green one on the Powerstream. It comes in 450 and 520 watt variants, and is housed in a simply gorgeous titanium case.

Last up is yet another interesting sounding book from O'Reilly, 'Revolution in the Valley'. This one is about the creation of the Mac, as told by Andy Hertzfeld, one of the of the computer's co-creators. Filled with history, photos and insight about where the mac came from, and how it was made, Revolution looks pretty good. Will it finally let the secret out about who's idea it was to steal the best parts of the OS from MS? (A joke for the humor impaired Macistas out there). If you can brave analogue media, pick up a copy. ยต
