Nokia disses Apple's iPhone

FORMER MAKER of rubberware, Nokia, has pointed out a few strange things about Apple's iPhone which might mean its impact on the world of telecommunications is somewhat limited.

Finnish business daily Taloussanomat quotes a spokesNokia as saying that while Apple's new device is interesting it lacks a few essential features that will mean it is any use to man and beast.

Top of the list is that the iPhone cannot use 3G which limits its effectiveness as a multimedia unit, Nokia said. For example Apple can't do No over-the-air downloads from its iTunes store. Apple's Chief Executive Steve Jobs hopes to flog 10 million iPhones in 2008, which is a tiny fraction of the mobiles which are sold in a year. This meant that Apple was aiming very low market presentation for its product, Nokia thinks.

Generally the feeling of analysts and Nokia is that punters are not really interested in sticking music on their mobile phones. It has MP3 players on some of its devices and users don't use them.
