LCD panel shortages arrive

No flat panels make for fat profits of doom

AU OPTRONICS reckons there's already a shortage of LCD flat panels this quarter but things will get better in the fourth quarter.

Things, of course, couldn't be better for flat panel manufacturers than a shortage because for the last 18 months there's been a glut that has benefited buyers rather than sellers.

According to Digitimes, a AU Optronics suit said today that in the fourth quarter of this year there will be a supply and demand balance.

But heck - the same article reckons that there will be oversupply again in the first quarter of 2008. µ
