Nvidia wins great big stonking gong

Hardware Roundup Crucial, thanks for the memory
Thursday, 2 November 2006, 09:54
AMDZONE HAS been busy with new reviews out for the Leadtek WinFast PX7950 GT TDH Extreme and the Crucial 10th Anniversary PC2-5300 2x1024 MB. The PX 7950 is Nvidia's mid-range successor to the 7900 series and it certainly looks worthy of the title, scoring an impressive 95 per cent from AMDZone. In this industry it's impressive to see a component manufacturer celebrate its 10th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with commemorative memory, which apart from just being a solid product, has great geek appeal as well.

With Intel's quad core processors just around the corner, Motherboards.org has been checking out some of the boards that will support them. In this case it's the Abit AW9D-Max Motherboard, and with the exception of a few issues with its overclocking features, which should be cleared up soon, the board comes highly recommended.

So what do ninjas do with all their spare shuriken? They make them into CPU coolers of course. Pro-Clockers has reviewed the cool sounding Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B Cooler. Going toe to toe with the bigger names in the cooling market this CPU cooler shapes up nicely, living up to its ninja title by being efficient and quiet.

Gamepyre has been upping their game with the SteelSeries Professional Gaming Mouse Pad. I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend $30 on a mat for my mouse to run around on, but they assure me it's well worth it, even if you not sure what a noob is or how to frag one.

With high power CPUs, dual graphics cards, and a slew of drives and add-ons, most of would skip right over a 430W power supply to drive all of it. But Bjorn3D tell us the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 430W proves it not how big it is, but what you do with it that matters.

MetkuMods has reviewed the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v2.0. It appears that Microsoft's attempt to dominate every facet of the industry continues with this wireless keyboard / mouse combination.

According to Viperlair the Intel X6800 Core 2 Extreme puts the ball firmly back in Intel's court, for the time being, with a massive performance jump from its predecessors. We'll have to wait and see what AMD and Intel's own quad core can do to shake its precarious position. µ
