The popular notebooks are a collaboration with AMD, which provides technology support for the Ferrari Formula One racing team. The previous two generations have managed to score pole position by being both fast and good looking (not unlike myself, I might add).
The new Ferrari 1100 series, which replaces the lower-end 1000-series released previously, has a 12.1-inch widescreen display which is powered by an integrated graphics core labeled as X1250. The processor is a Turion 64 X2, and the hard drive comes in at up to 250GB.
The whole thing is wrapped in carbon fibre which gives it a styling similar to its bigger brother, the 5000 series - which, we note, is also due a refresh around this time.
The full press release is here, and the first unnoficial pictures of the device, which is black rather than Ferrari red, are here.
Of course, the irony of the AMD tie up is not lost. For starters, Ferrari is currently accusing other manufacturers in its arena of nicking its technology, whilst AMD claims the same over Intel's Nehalem. Secondly, Ferrari was once the fastest car on the track with the fastest drivers and the most potential - but it's spent this season playing catch-up to a faster, more aggressive opponent. Does that sound like irony to you? ยต
