AMD chipset for Intel reviewed

Hardware Roundup Brilliant LCD article published
Wednesday, 7 February 2007, 06:13
THIS MIGHT BE an unusual article to begin a wibble, but I have to wholeheartedly recommend an X-bitLabs article which is not a review per se, but rather an excellent technology article which will give you an opportunity to dive into the world of what's wrong with LCD monitors and how to configure them. Guys also did some reviewing, taking two professional LCDs for a spin: NEC LCD2190UX and Samsung XL20.

On the other hand, a handful of reviewers got their hands on something which will be eBay's favourite as Voodoo5 6000 is today. Yep, guys at HardOCP, IT-Review.Net, and VR-Zone reviewed a DFI's LANParty board with a cryptic name ICFX3200-T2R/G, featuring AMD RD600 chipset for Intel processors. Like Nvidia, AMD did a better job than Intel's own chipsets, so if you're searching for Intel setup, think about this AMD chipset.

And if you want to put a really interesting processor into that motherboard, we would recommend that you check FiringSquad's article on Core 2 Duo E4300 and how the overclocking score propelled this CPU above level of performance offered by Core 2 Extreme X6800... which is only five time more expensive.

Besides saying goodbye to AMD's chipset for Intel, our friends at IT-Review took a brief visit to redesigned ModXstream from OCZ in its 850W flavour and put it through its paces.

Kyle from HardOCP joined the ranks with our Fudo by rightly blasting Nvidia's spin machine in his editorial. It could be just me, but after all the talk nV PR and marketing did about how Vista is best thing since sliced bread, they could at least ask their own driver team - are they going to be ready with the drivers or not. Since today is February 7th, we already know the answer.

However, two sites went down the wire for some overclock lovin' with special versions of GeForce 8800 - often defaced Hexus boys tested fastest-clocked GTX by XFX, while XSReviews reviewed a Gainward board - fastest 8800GTS out there. But while Brits were enjoying high-end performance of 8800s, mates from down under were stuck reviewing a product which performance is certainly at "down under" part of GPU food-chain. TweakTown reviewed a special version of GeForce 7300GT for watch this, a PCIe x1 slot. No PCIe x16 slot needed.

Riyad from TrustedReviews went to Japan to check out how Mad Mike's notebook is made. Rest of the world knows it as Panasonic Toughbook, INQsters know it as "one that survives Mike".

To stay in notebook world, Dr. Damage from TechReport took Dell's own XPS M1210 laptop and didn't even try to spill something on it. After all, isn't XPS Dell's brand "for gamers"?
