Prophylatics for mobile phones launched

CES 007 No, not a wet suit
Friday, 12 January 2007, 20:05
MY PERSONAL AWARD for the most bizarre product of CES should probably go to a product called the mobile phone prophylatic

The purpose of this enclosure is to let you keep your mobile phone safe from all of the weather problems it might encounter. It's not that Vegas is seeing rain, but the manufacturer claims it could prove useful.

Put a prophylatic on for a safer experience

Putting the prophylatic onto the phone showed less of a hassle, since the smooth plastic is much easier to handle than my imperfect human skin. alt='ces_condom_eva'

Although the manufacturer is demoing the device with two ladies swimming in the bathtub, having a conversation with the condom on proved to be most difficult, and unaudable. The rubber membrane is pretty much keeping all of the sound in, so you can only do text messaging.

One time only

Att the end of the product placement on a tested RIM Crackberry, the prophylatic broke, proving that nothing is safe in this world. An interesting concept. µ
