THE GOLDEN PALACE Casino said it has paid a staggering $28,000 for an ancient grilled cheese sandwich from crazy auction house Ebay.

Diana Duyser, who placed the article for sale on Ebay, claimed that after she took one bite out of it, she noticed the "Virgin Mary's" face in the residue.

She believes, said Golden Palace, that it has brought her luck over the years.

It has certainly brought her luck today after the casino gave her an enormous cheque for the cheese leftover.

What puzzles us is that although apparently "millions" believe the image looks like the Virgin Mary, to us it resembles someone we once met at a tube station in Merton, South London.

As no contemporary photographs of the Virgin Mary are believed to exist, people will have to make their own mind up, which they can do by going to the Golden Palace web site and also learn how to make their own mysterious and ancient grilled cheese sandwich. Warning. The Golden Palace site creates numerous popups if you use Internet Explorer without having Windows XP SP2. µ
