Wednesday, 4 August 2004, 06:57
ATI R420 FINALLY GOT ITS workstation family member hidden under FireGl name. Yes, it's an X800 with some soldering on the board to make you use only FireGl drivers and pay a saucy $1099 for the Radeon called FireGL X3.

It's 30 per cent faster ATI said in a press release, and it has dual DVI connectors, something that you won't find on any X800 cards. You will have 3D stereo capabilities with quad-buffered support, 12 pixel pipes, six geometry engines and increased sub-pixel precision.

The board has 256MB of GDDR3 memory and works with programs such as 3Dmax, Maya, SolidWorks, Softimage and Catia.

X3 will use unified driver and will be showed at Siggraph from 10th till 12th of August and will be available though workstation OEMs. µ
