XTREME RESOURCES forum member SAMPSA from Finland overclocked an Athlon X2 4800+ to an incredible 3096.9MHz, that's a 29% overclocked, using Vapochill LS cooler, equating to two pseudo not yet realeased FX59 cores. He scored 27.58s in SuperPI (single threaded BM) and more than 9K on PCMark 04. Voltage used is 1.55v. Chainbolt from Overclockers Australia forum sent me a link to a DC Pentium EE 840 OC of 4.16GHz aircooled. Voltage used is 1.45v. In the only common benchmark, AMD beat the Intel system in PI calculation (32s vs 27.6). 16% faster for 1GHz less. I wonder what would happen if Sapphire's liquid metal technology was used in place.

Ryan Shrout sent me this snip from PC Perspective. The Thermaltake XP-90C has been tested there, It uses a single 92mm fan and four heat pipes to transfer heat. It is also compatible with all major sockets let alone the LGA775 for which it needs an adaptor. At 690g, it is quite heavy though. One of the best out there according to PCP. There's another review from this site with the Epox EP-9NPA+ SLI motherboard. This board has been reviewed several times around the web. What makes it stand alone compared to others according to PCP is its price, only $147, a shade above the cheapest SLI board out there. It doesn't cut on features though. Ten USB 2.0 ports, two firewire connectors, GbE LAN, SPDIF in two flavours. Six SATA II connections and two RAID Controllers etc. SLI is there and OC is there.

Biosmagazine checks the Laplink software datamigration utility called PCmover. Should you want to upgrade your hard disk or your whole system without having to struggle to find out where those software CDs are, where you put the serial numbers etc. At £29.95, it is cheap but not much relevant if you plan to upgrades dozens of PCs. They have also reviewed the Tenebril Spycatcher 3.5 which outperforms even Spybot in finding suspicious code. Its only disadvantage though is that it "Takes an extremely heavy-handed approach to spyware." See what it means in real life.

Beyond3D reviews the ATI Radeon X700 mobility, codenamed M26 or RV410. 128-bit memory interface means that it won't compete with the likes of the mobile X800 or the 6800GT. The MR9800 out performs it though. It performs just as good as its desktop equivalent but comes with the software driver disadvantage. Nice reading.

Bjorn3D tests the Sapphire Radeon X300SE against the Leadtek Winfast PX6200TC TDH in a show down of the entry levels. Somehow I can't get to trust either HM or the TC. The Radeon X300SE is the cheaper of the two. Both cards run neck to neck in most situation which means that price might be the main differentiator. µ
