EURO WATCHDOGS may soon file a complaint against Intel over dodgy trading practices according to the Wall Street Journal.
The allegation is that Intel used 'inducements' to persuade major European retailers not to sell computers equipped with AMD chippage.
The European Commission has had its beady eye Intel for nearly eight years and last year filed charges alleging that the giant chipmaker used all sorts of underhand shenanigans, including rebates, marketing payments and loss-leading prices sales to box builders, to 'encourage' them to use Intel chips rather than those made and sold by AMD.
"We are continuing to cooperate and really don't know what the commission will do," Chuck Mulloy told the WSJ when asked about the possibility of new charges. "We believe we operate within the law."
Intel has maintained that incentives offered to retail outfits and OEMs are good for consumers. µ

Forget AMD's plight, Intel has stomped on loads of toes and on entire companies over the years.

I hope the European Commission hits them right in their ill gotten monetary Jugular!
What about doing something real instead of suing companies? Please check items in your local store for “made in EU” items.
Yeah, the moment a company makes money (unlike some perenially loss making ones) there are others (like governments) who want a piece of it.
Doesn't our beloved Inquirer come with the prestigious "Made in the EU" label? How about Airbus, Ariane, BMW, Edamer, Ferrari, Mercedes, Volkswagen, etc. and - just to hit a nerve - didn't the US Navy select the EH 101 made by AgustaWestland in the UK (sold as "Lockheed Martin" product to the oblivious US population) to fly the US president? Just to remind the typical "Fox News" client, Germany alone is World Export Champion #1, with China being #2. Take a look at the entire EU, with Germany being part of the EU, and you get the idea. Unless you watched too much Fox News or MSNBC, of course.

Either Intel plays by the rules or they shall face the music!
