Bio-terrorism detectors get boost

Utek to help UDTT out
Mon Jul 31 2006, 09:17
A COMPANY working on the development of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bio-terrorism and other infectious health threats, UDTT, has received backing from UTEK.

Universal Detection Technology (UDTT), in cooperation with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)has developed the BSM-2000. This is a bacterial spore and anthrax spore monitoring device, which combines JPL's spore detection technology with UDTT's aerosol capture device.

With countries like the USA becoming increasingly paranoid about the possibility of terrorists mounting an attack through the mail, UDTT's technology will prove in great demand.

UTEK's role will be to help the company commercialise its research and technology. µ
