Microsoft shows just how bad Vista DRM can be

Beta testers upgrade now
Thursday, 26 April 2007, 08:12
IF YOU ARE still using a beta copy of Vista next month, Microsoft is going to show you what happens if you do not obey the software's DRM.

The beta version, which many believe might be the core behind a large number of pirated versions of Vista, will expire on May 31.

Rather than simply refuse to work, the beta will give a spectacular version of how irritating it can be if you do not shell out cash for the upgrade.

According to, cough, The INQUIRER, yesterday, your machine will go into reboot hell and will automatically reboot every two hours.

When this reboot happens you will not be allowed to save any data.

However according to the beta's small print, even this "privilege" will be taken away later on.

Goodness knows what havoc the DRM will evoke. More here. ยต
