Bill Gates gets probed by Auntie

The man is stepping doon
Wednesday, 2 January 2008, 12:02

THE BBC is inviting its readers to ask Vole supremo Bill Gates questions.

Any questions you like.

The site says “Perhaps you have always wanted to know what the inspiration was behind Windows?”

We think we know the answer to that. It was Xerox Parc, or possibly even GEM from good old Digital Research. And perhaps everything changed subtly after Big Glue and Bill G fell out over OS/2. The-man-who-made-the-vole-what-it-is

You have a chance to ask Bill your own questions by filling out a form, here. µ

A starter for ten...

Will Microsoft fully open their file / document specifications to allow full interoperability for other developers' applications.

Will Microsoft ever adopt proper standards developed by others, such as those used by OpenOffice ? i.e. not "tweaked" to a non-standard "Microsoft only variant" such as the debacle over trying to seize "ownership" of Java ?

With the incredible amount of digital rights restrictions in Vista dragging down system performance by several years, do you feel it is Microsofts' place to force such damaging and limiting technology on customers ?
