Weekly Folly
Well this week on the forum was rather boring and bland. Very little in the way of interesting discussion, and witty retort. Personally I blame it on the conspicuous absence (forced silence is closer to the point) of one of our more prominent members. But that's all in the past, we move on.

Just looked at the last week. Volume certainly wasn't down.

A little speculation regarding Barton The popular thread of the week, started by one of the newbies, who seems to have posted and ran. We ( you all) didn't even make an attempt at staying on topic. PROMETHEA, ID19, and GHC all at least referred to trying to figure out what post 1 was about.

THEFLASHMAN laid in the first full power Non-sequitor. Pulled us right off track talking about some movie, and its soundtrack. Then ID19 took us into a more…ahhh…..ummm adult genre. A couple of deleted posts around a third of the way in. I can't remember what they were, but at least one was funny. By this time we were asking question about sexual positions and still discussing movies.

Made for a confusing thread to say the least. After a brief mention of skiing by our illustrious moderator, Cupid was off in a shot. Attention span of a gnat that boy has. Friday night brought a little interesting discussion when FLASHY offered him a job.

The Great American Black-out Now if anything was going to break my silence, this would have been it. Comes Monday Morning, and someone who obviously learned much from researching my old postings. Cept for the slight religious tint, I was amazed no one accused me of starting this post. As the title says it was somehow trying to correct an impression abroad that we Mericans were without power half the time. Didn't know that was a big issue. Far as I knew it was just them Kalifornians. And everyone knows they're in the dark most of the time anyways. Turned into a huge power geek thread. The biggest topic was how to benefit from pumping water back uphill. Followed a close second by aluminum production. Who'd have thought those were more interesting than kars and. Kats to this lot. Moved on to a racial discussion, starting about Thursday. Then some rather poor jokes. Is Dr. Spinola just saving up to fund a career as a non-sitting comedian?

Office Flirt Flashy posted some test that somehow quantifies your likeliness for a sexual harassment suit. Happened pretty late in the week (Friday) but loads of traffic.

Somewhere about a third of the way in we started debating OS's and browsers. Thanks to a minor comment made by SGF2. Word of advice to you newbies wanting to talk about technology.

Start a thread about something else totally irrelevant. Near as I can tell those are the only threads that eventually get around to talking about IT. SGF and Flashy started doing a sub thread thing about fashion for some reason. Why Flashy would get involved with that I have no idea. We all know Flashy's mum dressed him until he got hitched to Mrs. Flashman. Then she dressed him. A few brief interludes with the lottery and gambling near the end. Kind of all fell apart after post 25 really.

frnht451 Was a thread started by bob's your dinosaur to discuss some new series of Sci-fi novel re-prints. Was carrying on just fine, all sorts of posts about various authors and novels. Then, ironically enough, frnht451 posted some pictures of a Land rover that he fancies, in post 14. That was all it took, we were of to kars trucks and the like. Lasted for about as long as the books did, until Cupid requested a remedy for bee stings. Somewhere around post 50 we got back on track. Well, back to talking about literature (sic), kept on near to the end.

a homemade mp3 payer - network question The thread that wouldn't die. If you've been here before, just more of the same. Planes, radars and more planes.

Rip Off UK SCATA decided to inform us of his tax-dodging scheme for ciggies. I think it's a fine idea myself. Started off with talking about smoking, then of course passed on briefly to more illicit substances. End up talking about how to die, and Hermies preferred method.

Man this is taking a long time. My back is starting to kill me in this chair.

Trucks & guns bad, Java & Citroens good A little Sid baiting going on here. Stuck pretty much to giving me a hard time, interspersed with some quality geek talk. Low quality that is. A little firearms instruction for Cupid, and the other various English git types. Really a blather thread, lot's of unrelated stuff.

Woman Dies in Mistaken Rapture A notable thread/link. Of course WHITEKNAVE could have just been going for the 500th thread.

Where's Sid Viscous I don't usually like to talk about threads that make me look egocentric. However, there are very many funny bits here, lots of great links. I am also deeply touched that in my absence you turned this thread into a detailed discussion of cars/tractors and the like. Brings a tear to this psycho's eyes. Definitely a thread worth perusing.

Well I'm going to wrap this up. More than a full day is way too much for this stuff. I really must be loosing it. Notable notes. Many newbies this week. GHC seems to have taken a liking to us after the OOFG. I was pretty sure she would run screaming, never to be seen again.

Frnht has been much more lucid as of late, you guys having a beer shortage or something? New Original's sense of humor, or lack thereof, seems to be getting worse. SDMHANEY's been dishing out loads of engineering advice, no doubt learned from making that hoped up Vespa in his garage.

Don't miss this Where's Sid gone

Do you think the move was justified?
