Bitmicro promises terabyte flash drive

A SOLID STATE drive with 1.6 terabytes (TB) of storage speed and using Ultra 320 SCSI is being promised by Bitmicro.

The firm said the drive will have data transfers of 230MB/sec and 320MB/sec in burst mode. It will use single level cell NAND flash.

But don’t expect to see it in your $300 laptop any time real soon. Bitmicro supplies its ruggedised drive to military, industrial and enterprises and no doubt the price will matche these markets.

The E-Disk Altima drive will ship in the second quarter and in volume by the third quarter, with the firm offering capacities from 16GB up to 1.6TB, it said. µ

Clawing at Ceiling for IT

Cost is .00 & will be public when some new test stuff shows up. Yet this is better than 4/5/6 voltage planes as it is today. oooooo, I can't wait for larger size that will easily accomadate any ONE operating system. FLASH-I should have taken amphetamines.

What burst mode has to do with RAM?

fyi

single level cells last 10x than multilevel cells. They only have 1/2 the density of mlc though. Multilevel cells are common in consumer devices.

Right, Multi Voltage units last 1,000 Hrs.

Sorry, I was overly optomistyc there, next multi voltage planes ( 6 or 8) memory is having one huge problem for sales at all, it only lasts 1,000 Hours for each flash unit in field.
Sooooo, this up to terrabyte stuff out soon is only real hope for some eye poping Flash Memory tricks, its standard two voltage planes or simple multi voltage planar technologie or multi voltage plane, (each plane is two seperate voltages to form on or off switching, straight on or off of voltage is too much, mere small change is enough to effect gate & much faster & of course reliable, .so still 2 voltages is todays key, not whole lotta planes, as equipment must still be developed to withstand leakage & control parameters that are near Heaven in demands of frequency,etc...both are listed in theinquirer today, 
if thats multi celluar?fyi perhaps you mean something different; higher level architecural & engineering design called multicelled?, yet my understanding of multiple voltage planes is that design is complex multi celled thing that wears out, thats flash memory experts field if its stacking of memory..sawee.
