What is the OS?

IF THERE WAS EVER any doubt about the inadequacy of software to solve many a problem in the Big L, a story on Newsdays will put your minds to rest.

Headed "Computer Bigs Take a Bite in Court" which probably refers to Computer Bugs, not Bigs, the story outlines how courts in the Nassau County Family Court are grinding to a halt.

Nassau handles 30,000 fresh cases every year and has installed some program called the Universal Case Management System.

We've no idea what OS it is operating on. Honest.

The story reckons that lawyers and others involved in the administration of justice to kids have had inadequate training and that's what the problem is.

Apparently more hardware is needed - so we're probably talking about some Microsoft OS rather than Open VMS, Linux or DOS 3.0.

But we don't know for sure. And we can't even speculate on this one because the law is involved and that might just be "contempt of court".

Delays are initial kinks, the story relates. But wasn't it Pink Floyd that sang "We don't need no educashun", rather than Ray's group?

Herein is the story. µ
