Our IBM 701 Thinkpad - codenamed the "Butterfly" and pictured below after rescue and re-boot - came with a startling 32MB of memory and OS/2 supporting Win32 and a DX4 chipolata from the mighty Intel.
That was annoying as the hard drive thrashed around like there was no tomorrow and so we installed Windows for Warehouses. Which was also very annoying, but in a different way.
What a lovely system it was - when you closed the case, the beautiful keyboard just slid into a small brickette shape - although you had to be careful you didn't leave a biro sitting inside. Ms Butterfly didn't like that one bit.
Our trusty StinkPad flew halfway round the world but still seems to be working just as well as it used to. Cough.
Here's a Web site devoted to the memory of the lost and sadly lamented Butterfly of yore.
Once we'd rescued it from the trash and plugged it in, it seemed to work as if those lost years didn't exist after all.
As you can see here. µ
