Airlive's pr0n box gets E-donkey support

Company keeps on expanding feature list

DURING a conference here in Dubrovnik, we learned that Airlive's imaginatively named WMU-6500FS, dubbed the pr0n box, has not yet run its course. It just got a little (cheaper) brother, WMU-6000FS, and software development for both is continuing.

Engineers from the company are currently developing a firmware update that will add an E-donkey client, so that you're no longer limited to regular HTTP/FTP and Bit Torrent modes.

Firmware should be out in October, but it remains how fast the eDonkey client will work. If it performs like bit-torrent client, you could put a 1TB drive inside the box and just let it run, putting grey hair on your ISP admin heads, at least as far as the number of active connections is concerned. You can control the number of connections, of course. In countries filled with restrictive ISPs like Blighty, US, and so on, restricting number of connections to a normal number is highly advisable.

Design is rather serious for a CE device…

We'll ignore the fact that the Pr0n box could spot a little bit of a modern design, or that a full-aluminium variant would be welcomed. For the ones that will put the box in a hidden space, you probably won't mind.

We have reviewed the original WMU-6500FS back in July , and found that the box did exactly what it is supposed to. ยต
