ATI plans to launch the 'Mobility Radeon X800XT' on 10th of May, less than a two weeks hence. Knowing that Alienware ships ATI's previous M28-based card called Mobility Radeon X800, the name does not come as a big surprise to us.
This card is competes directly with Nvidia's Geforce Go 6800 Ultra card, the one that shipping in Dell latest XPS Gen 2 notebooks.
It will of course have 256MB of DDR 3 memory and will be clocked high and perform very high - I assume close to its desktop X800XT brother.
These days, high-performance notebook cards are just desktop chips with better power management built in, so they are not lacking in performance.
No doubt, vendors will announce machines based on Mobility Radeon X800XT and will be able to ship it very soon, if not the same day. ยต
