Home of Intel Skunkworks pinpointed

Miles of tiles

RONLER ACRES, home to Intel's cunning skunkworks, does have an Intel sign outside it, as you can see by clicking on this Intella page.

But the link we posted a few months back to another photograph, which you can find here, is more revealing on what's going on.

This picture shows four large buildings, from left to right.

The one at the far left behind the parking garage is the 12- inch fab RP1. To its right is 12 inch Fab D1C. The slightly shorter building to D1C's right is what Intel folk know to be the "bridge building" and to the right of it is an 8-inch fabrication plant - Fab 20.

The so-called bridge building contains wafer processing kit for both D1C and Fab 20.

And we're told, it;s about a half mile of nothing but fab from end to end, with more being built all the time.

If any of these architectural details help, of course. µ
