Gecube to introduce dual X1600 Gemini card

Computex baby

WE wrote about Gecube's dual X1600 Gemini at Cebit. Back then we reported it should be ready for Computex and it seems that Gecube is about to keep its promise. You can read our Cebit piece here.

They should have a working prototype at the show but we know that a double RV530-based card is not going to be cheap to produce. We also know that if you want the dual-chip ATI-based card you need to have a special and rather expensive bridge chip to make it possible.

Upcoming RV560 cards will have this bridge integrated in the die and will make the card production much cheaper.

We wondered about the card's performance and, if you think about it, there should not be many problems to make those two cards work in a Crossfire motherboard. ATI does need a special driver to make it possible. We will meditate on this. µ
