Cray lobstered by profit warning

Don't Cray for me Argentina
Tuesday, 5 June 2007, 08:27
THE SUPERCOMPUTER FIRM Cray, said it won't make a profit, no way. It won't make a profit in 2007 due to a delay in the launch of its XT4 supercomputer system.

Cray said the problem is that a "third party vendor" told Cray a delay was en route.

Speaking to News.com, Cray chief financial officer Brian Henry said the outfit had expected to ship "the product" in the beginning of the fourth quarter and earn the outfit $30 million this year.

But now the XT4 is not expected to contribute to the company's 2007 revenue. Cray shares lost half their value in the last four months. Cray, which filed a loss for both 2005 and 2006, now expects 2007 total revenue to be below $200 million.

We blame it on the fact they don't supply goldfish with their computers any more.
