TSMC accused of throwing sand in Intel's face

Foundry boundary. TSMC ROC in hard place
Friday, 16 March 2007, 10:55
MARK OSBORNE over at Fabtech, has an amusing little twist on Intel opening a fab in mainland China.

He reckons that TSMC may be behind a Reuters storyette which pitched the Taiwanese foundry against the American IDM.

As Mark O points out, TSMC does not compete with Intel because it is a pure play foundry. But, he also notes, TSMC is being refused permission to go to the mainland with high level tech it's already got on the ROC while if the China Intel fab reports are true, that factory will use stuff that TSMC can't. ยต
