Does not explode
Mon Jan 07 2008, 10:55

PURVEYOR of home networking kit, Netgear has recalled a power adaptor that it has been peddling worldwide because it has a tendency to stop working.

The XE103 powerline Ethernet Adaptor has a problem with its integrated circuits which can fail completely.

Fortunately when it does, the device switches itself off and does not catch fire, explode or do anything violent.

The device handles power of 220 to 240 volts. Netgear has sold about 82,000 of the devices.

Apparently no children or small animals have been injured as a result of the defect by Netgear has asked its punters to stop using the product. In fact they have suggested unplugging it and give them a bell about how to replace it. µ

Power, volts and that kind of thing

"The device handles power of 220 to 240 volts"

Watts that all about then?

Someone needs an 'ohm study' course in basic electrical units. Power does not equal volts.

They should recall their WNRr854T

This thing lasts for 6-12 months, then dies with the green power light the only thing that works. 100's of people complaining on many forums. And God help you if you have to go through their tech support.
