MURDOCH-OWNED TEEN HIT website MySpace nicked a member's URL from the much-used music section of the site and replaced it with a show by Fox, according to Bones band members.

Bassist Michael Miller tried to log in only to find that his band's page had been mysteriously delete, and in its place was a promotional page for a new Fox show, Bones, of the same name as the band. The band had been using the page for just under two years, said Miller.

They all tried to contact the Myspace admin but initially got no reply. Eventually, infamous Friend of Everyone, Myspace user and founder "Tom" got in touch with the band and apologised, restoring the URL, presumably after Bones the Show got sufficient promotion. "As we grow in size, sometimes people make decisions I don't know about. This was obviously the wrong decision," he mentioned to Bones.

Music industry pro Scott Dabro reckons Myspace is a bit rubbish anyway - "I'm not a big fan of Myspace," he said, "it always seems to take forever to load the pages and that email-me button only works about half the time."

Interweb music geeks are warming to user-generated content web pages, with YouTube providing good promotion too, it would seem. µ
