TERRORISTS are turning to Google Earth to help them plan attacks on British bases in Basra.

According to the Times, Army intelligence found shedloads of printouts from Google Earth when they raided the houses of suspected insurgents last week.

The pictures showed buildings inside the bases and vulnerable areas such as tents, loos and places where four wheel drives are parked.

Written on the back of one set of photographs were the camp's precise longitude and latitude, which is pretty useful if you want to call down mortar fire on a particular area.

A spokesGoogle said that while the information could be used for "good and bad" it was always ready to listen to governments' requests to block access. However it is clear that the information is already circulating amongst the terrorists so it is a bit late.

Soldiers from the Royal Green Jackets told the Telegraph that they had considered suing Google Earth if they were injured by mortar rounds that had been directed on the camp by the aerial footage.
